Job Purpose and Impact

The EIA Project Engineer supports the preparation, approval, and execution of the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation (EIA) components of investment projects. 
The role contributes to and/or coordinates EIA engineering and construction activities and supports project start-ups in collaboration with other technical teams, ensuring compliance with applicable Cargill standards and local regulations. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the preparation of project commitments and cost estimates for approval by coordinating basic and detailed EIA engineering activities, aligned with project complexity.
  • Contribute technical expertise and collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
  • Based on project complexity, either lead the execution of less complex projects or support the delivery of more complex projects under the guidance of senior EIA Project Engineers.
  • Manage approved EIA budgets and schedules as applicable, ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed scope, quality, and timelines.
  • Ensure Management of Change (MoC) processes are applied throughout all project phases.
  • Depending on project complexity, lead and coordinate EIA construction activities, including contractor oversight and collaboration.
  • Support project procurement activities by providing technical specifications and best-practice guidance for EIA materials, services, and labor requirements.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and selection of external suppliers and contractors.
  • Ensure project documentation is developed, maintained, and managed in accordance with established standards and procedures, and that required reviews and approvals are obtained from relevant technical stakeholders (for example, P&IDs with input from Process Design Group teams).
  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with Cargill standards, policies, guidelines, and applicable national and international regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices by incorporating lessons learned and project experience into standards and processes. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an EIA Project Engineering role, preferably within the food, feed, or related process industries
  • Experience with industrial automation, electrical and instrumentation systems, including the design, specification, and implementation of such installations
  • Knowledge of applicable national and international (including European) EIA regulations, codes, standards and best practices
  • Experience with the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems, including High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) installations
  • Working knowledge of ATEX and SIL regulations, standards, and methodologies
  • Professional proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating and guiding external contractors, suppliers, or third-party resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Familiarity with engineering, project management, and design software tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements, as well as applicable engineering standards and technical codes.
  • Experience supporting or overseeing EIA construction safety activities.
  • Experience with industrial communication networks and bus systems, such as Fieldbus and Profibus.
  • Strong electrical engineering knowledge, including short-circuit calculations, cable sizing, protection philosophies, LV distribution systems, drive applications, motors, transformers, and related equipment.
