Mason City Protein Processing Plant
Mason City is located in North Central Iowa, about halfway between Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Des Moines, Iowa. Also known as "River City," it is the hometown of Meredith Willson, author and composer of the 1957 Broadway hit “The Music Man." It is also home to the only remaining hotel in the world designed by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, The Historic Park Inn.
Cargill’s Mason City facility, named Sunny Fresh Eggs when it was built in 2000, started production in 2001. Over the years there have been several name changes until it was fully brought into Cargill’s Protein business in 2017. Cargill is proud to be an active member of the community when it comes to leadership and giving back. The Mason City facility currently produces 155 million pounds of egg annually, which is then turned into over 30 different egg products including patties, quiches, cups, egg types, flavors and case packs. The facility also produces precooked scrambled eggs as well as liquid egg products packed in cartons.
