Mason City Protein Processing Plant

Located in Mason City, Iowa, halfway between Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Des Moines, Iowa, Cargill’s Mason City facility is a key part of the company’s protein and egg production operations. Originally built in 2000 as Sunny Fresh Eggs, the facility began production in 2001 and was fully integrated into Cargill’s Protein business in 2017.

Today, the Mason City plant produces over 155 million pounds of eggs annually, transforming them into more than 30 different egg products. These include egg patties, quiches, egg cups, flavored varieties, case packs, and precooked scrambled eggs, as well as liquid egg products packaged in cartons. The facility plays a vital role in supplying high-quality, ready-to-use egg solutions to foodservice providers and retailers across the U.S.
