Job Purpose and Impact
The Packaging Developer primary purpose is Optimizing Material Functionality, Operational symmetries, and Compliance. They will support by driving packaging specification management, cost competitiveness, sustainability, and compliance relating to customer and regulatory requirements This role will work across all product categories and collaborate with suppliers, R&D, commercial, and global teams to implement new packaging solutions.
In this position, you will work on complex projects to develop and test a wide variety of Packaging Materials used for the protection, display and handling of products across multiple product categories and plants. You will lead the determination of packaging specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements and the type of protection required, considering need for resistance to such external variables as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling and tampering.
The Packaging Developer will also contribute to digital transformation and data transparency in packaging compliance.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and validate new packaging solutions as part of commercialization process aligned with business needs across all Food NA categories.
- Focus on packaging data accuracy, improvements towards fee reductions and support regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Work with MT Engineers to ensure material is optimal for selected technology and/or equipment already in operation
- Technical Lead on partnerships with suppliers on specification development
- Reviews and Approves any Customer specific packaging changes
- Help define material attribute requirementsthrough planning and conducting packaging laboratory studies to support all packaging materials and production design changes.
- Prepare cost estimates and deliver packaging laboratory services for development projects, package qualification and solving efforts.
- Partner collaboratively with vendors, business leaders, R&D, marketing, product development and production to strategize, ideate and implement new solutions and technologies to address packaging needs.
- Build, modify and test product materials based on durability and cost effectiveness and advise customers on efficient packing procedures.
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Support digitalization and data transparency for packaging compliance and traceability.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques
- Minimum of four years of related work experience
- Other minimum qualifications may apply
PRIOR BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCES
- Assist in coordinating projects involving the design and implementation for the packaging of new or existing products.
- Helps in preparing documents including cost estimates and works with other packaging team members to deliver packaging laboratory services for development projects, package qualification, and solving efforts.

The expected salary for this position is $97,000-130,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
