Software Engineer (Python + React)
Job Purpose and Impact
The Software Engineer partners with cross-functional product teams to design, develop & maintain scalable software and AI-enabled solutions that address user needs & deliver measurable business value across the Food NA enterprise. Working with limited supervision in an agile, product-focused environment, this role contributes throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery & iterative development through deployment, support & continuous improvement. The engineer writes clean, efficient & maintainable code, applies responsible AI & software engineering practices, troubleshoots moderately complex issues & participates in code reviews and knowledge sharing while contributing to iterative delivery, production reliability & continuous product improvement.
Key Accountabilities
- Designs, develops & maintains high-quality software and AI-enabled solutions using modern engineering practices, writing clean, scalable & maintainable code that delivers measurable business value.
- Collaborates within an agile, cross-functional product team to understand customer needs, refine requirements, participate in product discovery & deliver solutions that achieve business outcomes.
- Applies DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native & automation practices to improve deployment reliability, engineering productivity, operational excellence & time-to-market.
- Implements automated testing, observability & quality engineering practices to ensure software and AI solutions are secure, reliable, scalable & performant.
- Contributes to the design, development, evaluation & deployment of AI-enabled capabilities, applying responsible AI, prompt engineering, model integration, retrieval techniques & governance standards to deliver trusted business outcomes.
- Contributes to continuous improvement by reducing technical debt, improving engineering standards, adopting emerging technologies including AI capabilities where appropriate & sharing best practices across teams.
- Demonstrates ownership of products and services in production by monitoring health, responding to incidents, participating in root cause analysis & implementing long-term improvements that enhance reliability and user experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant work experience of minimum 4 years.
- Experience working with Python, React.js, Java, Postgres SQL, CSS, AWS
- Experience using tools like Jira, Confluence, GitHub
- Experience working with automated pipelines for continuous integration, testing, delivery and security
- Experience architecting applications, databases, services, or integrations.
- Minimum of four years of related work experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven ability to quickly learn new languages and platforms.
- Experience using AI-powered engineering tools and assistants to accelerate software development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, automation, and overall developer productivity.
- Experience developing and supporting full-stack solutions, including front-end applications, APIs, integrations, data services, and cloud-native platforms.
- Experience working within Agile product teams, collaborating with product managers, designers, architects, and engineers to deliver customer-focused solutions through iterative development and continuous improvement.
- Experience building automated pipelines for continuous integration, testing, delivery and security or working with these types of automations.
