PM&S Buyer (Mechanical & Technical Services Buyer)
Job Purpose and Impact
The Mechanical & Technical Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and managing contracts for mechanical, technical equipment, and plant services. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality, compliance, and timely availability of goods and services to support smooth manufacturing operations.
Key Accountabilities
Procurement & Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for mechanical, technical, and engineering services.
- Manage procurement of spare parts, plant maintenance services, utilities, and technical equipment etc.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, safety, legal and sustainability requirements.
Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with service providers and OEMs.
- Monitor vendor performance, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Resolve vendor-related issues, disputes, or escalations.
Cost & Contract Management
- Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and pricing terms to achieve cost savings.
- Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
- Ensure contracts meet legal, commercial, and technical requirements.
Plant Support
- Partner with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to understand technical requirements.
- Support CAPEX and OPEX procurement for plant upgrades, shutdowns, and preventive maintenance.
- Provide timely supply of critical spares and services to minimize downtime.
Process & Compliance
- Ensure procurement activities align with company policies and audit requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, vendor contracts, and purchase orders.
- Support digital procurement tools, e-sourcing, and continuous process improvements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 8-10 years of procurement experience in mechanical, engineering, or technical services (manufacturing industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of plant maintenance services, spare parts, and equipment categories.
- Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and e-sourcing platforms, spend analysis.
