Job Purpose and Impact

The Mechanical & Technical Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and managing contracts for mechanical, technical equipment, and plant services. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality, compliance, and timely availability of goods and services to support smooth manufacturing operations.

Key Accountabilities

Procurement & Sourcing

    • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for mechanical, technical, and engineering services.
    • Manage procurement of spare parts, plant maintenance services, utilities, and technical equipment etc.
    • Ensure compliance with company standards, safety, legal and sustainability requirements.

Vendor Management

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with service providers and OEMs.
    • Monitor vendor performance, quality, and delivery timelines.
    • Resolve vendor-related issues, disputes, or escalations.

Cost & Contract Management

    • Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and pricing terms to achieve cost savings.
    • Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
    • Ensure contracts meet legal, commercial, and technical requirements.

Plant Support

    • Partner with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to understand technical requirements.
    • Support CAPEX and OPEX procurement for plant upgrades, shutdowns, and preventive maintenance.
    • Provide timely supply of critical spares and services to minimize downtime.

Process & Compliance

    • Ensure procurement activities align with company policies and audit requirements.
    • Maintain accurate procurement records, vendor contracts, and purchase orders.
    • Support digital procurement tools, e-sourcing, and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 8-10 years of procurement experience in mechanical, engineering, or technical services (manufacturing industry preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of plant maintenance services, spare parts, and equipment categories.
  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and e-sourcing platforms, spend analysis.
