Job Purpose and Impact

The Senior Process Development Scientist will develop and deliver new processes, product renovation and value innovation projects through partnership with key regional customers and supply partners. In this role, you will support product development, manufacturing and quality initiatives through process and product modifications to drive safety, quality and capacity and lead and deliver process innovation capability projects for improved laboratory analysis methods, characterization, cost savings, patent generation, sensory panel development and consumer screening tools.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify and use consumer product and industry technology trends in collaboration with internal and external suppliers in new process and product concepts, samples and prototypes.
  • Ensure consumer and customer acceptance by the application of process, product and technical expertise into winning submissions to customer briefs ahead of competition, that meets innovation key performance indicators of product superiority, launch timing and cost.
  • Develop and maintain current and leading industry trends through active participation in regional and global networks.
  • Ensure effective partnership and communication with research and development, sales, finance, manufacturing, supply chain and food safety, quality and procurement.
  • Organize and participate in process/product innovation workshops to showcase process development in person or virtually and represent the organization in technical interactions with key customers and external partnerships.
  • Provide daily mentorship and project management direction to application support staff including laboratory technicians and junior scientists.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Experience in edible fats and oils operations and processing, process development or piloting
  • Experience with manufacturing or pilot lines, with awareness of product quality and food safety and regulatory practices
  • Experience in related industry consumer and customer focused role with business to business and business to customer exposure
  • Experience in bringing new processing/products or processing/product upgrade initiatives successfully to market within a multifunctional team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or certificate in engineering field related to processing, manufacturing
  • Experience in fats & oils process/product development, optimization of processing, creation of IP around edible oils & fats processing
  • Ability to bring creativity and new ideas to support innovation within fats & oils processing and product development
  • Ability to partner with stakeholders across R&D, operations, suppliers and customers (both internal and external) to trouble shoot and bring innovative solutions

Position Information

Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.

The expected salary for this position is $102,000 – $140,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
