This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products. 

Job Purpose and Impact

The Laboratory Technician will support the research and development teams, conduct moderately complex projects in the laboratory or pilot plants and allow development of appropriate solutions fitting with project outcome expectations. In this role, you will conduct moderately complex trials in the laboratory or pilot plants, prepare samples of the realized trials and report results to senior team members in the innovation and application centers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out moderately complex trials at the assigned laboratory or in application pilot plants in support of our Foodservice and Retail Fats & Oils business in frying and other projects that support Cargill’s other businesses.
  • Execute on customer and internal projects including the ordering and preparing of food, collection of data, and maintenance & upkeep of the lab and lab equipment.
  • Handle various production steps with moderately complex use of processing equipment.
  • Manage samples with appropriate evaluation tools.
  • Register and report results to project leaders by following the established templates and processes.
  • Foster laboratory or pilot related mission or study when necessary.
  • Perform simple maintenance on equipment.
  • Understand and comply with product and personal safety regulations and other procedural compliance regulations.
  • Handle moderately complex, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of the food industry
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline
  • Knowledge of the frying industry, practices and execution of frying studies
  • Experienced in frying of foods for the purpose of scientific knowledge

A strong candidate has been identified for this position.  However we will consider all candidates who meet the requirements.

The expected salary for this position is $22.31 – $24.31. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
