This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products. 

Job Purpose and Impact

The Capital Project Engineer will focus on optimizing our interconnected components of a manufacturing system. We seek a professional who will develop and apply regulatory and company engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues across general mechanical / production engineering.  In this role, you will help coordinate the plate facilities including personnel work flow, ergonomics, materials logistics, production process sequences and equipment layouts.

Key Accountabilities

  • Help the manufacturing plant, facility functions and maintenance plan and design improvements.
  • Help conduct cost/inventory/production control and human factors studies to develop and implement plans for facility modifications and revise operating methods.
  • Establish methods to maximize use of production facilities and personnel.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Develop, organize and execute the engineering task and equipment upgrades for the manufacturing site and facility improvements. 
  • As part of project execution – present options / scope to management, manage quotes / trades during project scoping, organize / communicate approvals, facilitate and organize technical trades such as millwrights, plumbers, general contractors during construction / commissioning.
  • Organize and manage commissioning activities transition from project to production controls of new or modified assets. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Able to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions associated with a food production / confectionary plant.
