Key Accountabilities
Principal Accountabilities:
- Train and operate equipment associated with barges: including hoist systems, ropes and cables
- Perform duties to complete removal of barge covers and upon completion of unloading, cover the barge. This includes identification of potential hazards, equipment monitoring, manually pushing and pulling of barge covers, physically throwing chains, and communication with the panel operator
- Perform housekeeping duties in respective work and break areas, as well as keeping barges clean: including sweeping, shoveling, and hosing down
- Train to be knowledgeable in procedures for bobcat operator, lead person and leg operator, as well as troubleshoot problems as required
- Control traffic through department and ensure that all visitors follow safety rules
- Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for food safety and environmental impact of the operation
- Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings
- Assist other plant personnel as needed and will perform any other duty as requested by the production supervisor
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to understand and communicate in English(verbal/written)
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator
- Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
- Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
Preferred:
- High school diploma/GED or a minimum of two years equivalent work experience
- At least six months of experience in production related work
- Forklift certified
- TWIC card
