Job Purpose and Impact
As VAT Manager Spain & Portugal, you will be part of the VAT Advisory Team and responsible for Spanish and Portuguese VAT matters. Another key aspect of the role will be performing data analytics, managing VAT related business processes and further developing the Tax Control Framework. The Tax team for this region is based in our offices in St Gugat, Spain. Flexible work arrangements can be considered, although it is expected that the office is regularly visited.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the Value Added Tax position of the Cargill entities with business in Spain & Portugal, including but not limited to advising on Value Added Tax matters, managing VAT registrations, monitoring of business changes and handling the tax audits.
- Coordinate the provision of information to the tax office during audits, research tax technical issues, identify risks that might bring additional tax cost for the company and perform analytics to find inconsistencies.
- Participate in tax and business projects and coordinate their respective implementation in the designated country, consulting on system changes, business reorganizations and projects.
- Advise on VAT matters applicable to a day-to-day transaction of the businesses.
- Improv business and finance processes for the purpose of creating a control framework.
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Up to date with latest changes in VAT legislation.
- Able to communicate complex VAT concepts and financial information to non-tax-specialists.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax or equivalent experience.
- Able to work well on your own initiative.
