Job Purpose and Impact

This role focuses on advancing sustainability through data-driven insights, with a strong emphasis on climate-related impacts in agriculture and transportation. It involves analyzing greenhouse gas emissions using life cycle assessments and on-farm data, tracking sustainability metrics to inform internal and external stakeholders, and evaluating suppliers against environmental and social responsibility criteria. The position also supports the development of innovative, low-carbon solutions—particularly in areas like fertilizer, soil carbon, livestock emissions, and renewable energy—while staying current on evolving sustainability trends and frameworks such as the GHG Protocol and SBTi. Collaboration is key, both within the organization and with external partners, to drive impactful sustainability initiatives and align practices with broader environmental goals.

Key Accountabilities

  • IMPACT & INSIGHTS: Leverages data and insights to analyze and identify sustainable practices, technologies, and strategies to propose opportunities, measure performance, inform decision making, assess initiative impact and optimize resource allocation. This includes quantification of greenhouse gas emissions through footprint methods, life cycle assessment, allocation methodologies, and selection and creation of emissions factors. Analyses will leverage on-farm activity data to derive climate insights.
  • REPORTING: Tracks complex metrics around sustainability strategy and business goals to ensure the value and progress is clear to internal and external partners, including but not limited to supply chain and product footprint and associated reduction targets. This role will have a particular focus on agriculture and transportation emissions.
  • SUPPLIER EVALUATION: Informs the evaluation of suppliers and vendors based on sustainability criteria to assist in the organization's supply chain alignment with sustainability goals, mitigating environmental impact, assisting with building a resilient supply chain and promoting social responsibility.
  • SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT: Develops drafts of sustainable solutions for the creation of innovative and environmentally responsible approaches, technologies, and practices that address sustainability challenges and promote a more sustainable future.  Familiarity with transport, agriculture and land-based decarbonization strategies will be particularly helpful in this role including solutions related to (but not limited to): fertilizer production, soil carbon, nitrous oxide, livestock methane emissions, alternative fuels, renewable energy, agroforestry.
