Job Purpose and Impact

As the Director, Procurement and Logistics you will form part of the leadership team, you will oversee the end-to-end procurement & Execution of Supply Chain service and logistics operations ensuring efficient sourcing of road and rail transportation, warehousing, terminal, Port Agreements, packers and containers including the execution and delivery of goods. This role requires a strategic and analytical thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics, cost optimization, and risk management.

You will play a critical role in developing and executing procurement strategies, negotiating supplier agreements, and optimizing logistics processes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Collaboration with the business leadership team is essential to align procurement and logistics strategies with overall business objectives, ensuring operational excellence and long-term financial sustainability. Additionally, you will be pivotal in achieving annual business and P&L targets, contributing to the company’s growth and competitive advantage in the market.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supply Chain Management: Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs. Coordinate with various departments to ensure seamless integration of supply chain activities. Monitor and analyse supply chain performance metrics and implement improvements.
  • Procurement Management: Develop and implement long-term strategies for procurement and logistics, aligning with the company's overall goals. Proficiency in strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, contract negotiation. Source and procure logistics services such as Rail & Road freight, Ports & BHC Privates, Warehousing, Terminals, Packers, Containers.
  • Logistics Management: Oversee the transportation, storage, and distribution of all commodities. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards. Optimize logistics operations to enhance delivery performance and reduce costs.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Conduct regular performance reviews and address any issues or concerns. Collaborate with suppliers to improve product quality and delivery times.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of supply chain, procurement, and logistics professionals. Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations. Provide guidance, training, coaching and development opportunities for team members.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, and logistics.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and logistics systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills to guide cross-functional teams, foster collaboration, and drive performance.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and service providers.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, and logistics, preferably within the grain industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership position.
