Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Trade Compliance Analyst will ensure that Cargill's import and export activities comply with all applicable international trade regulations and standards. This role involves managing customs classification, ensuring adherence to trade compliance policies, and mitigating risks associated with global trade operations. A key focus will be on accurately classifying goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and other relevant classification systems, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of classification rules, and ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.
We offer possibility to work remote 2 days per week after implementation period.
Key Accountabilities
- Accurate Classification: Utilize the Harmonized System and other relevant classification systems to accurately classify goods. Ensure all classifications are compliant with international trade regulations and standards.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Stay updated on changes in classification rules and international trade regulations. Interpret and apply complex classification guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of classification decisions and supporting documentation. Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and readily accessible for audits and inspections.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including logistics, procurement, and legal, to ensure accurate and compliant classification of goods. Provide guidance and support to other departments on classification-related matters.
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs on customs classification for relevant staff. Mentor and support junior team members in understanding and applying classification rules.
- Audit and Review: Conduct regular audits of classification processes to identify and correct errors. Implement improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of classification activities.
- Technology Utilization: Leverage global trade management systems and software to streamline classification processes. Ensure the effective use of technology to maintain compliance and improve operational efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the customs department.
- Ability to read customs specifications.
- Good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.
- Fluent English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (economic, logistic, financial) or equivalent experience.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- International commercial terms knowledge.
- Experience managing SAP and global trade services.
