By providing customers with life’s essentials, we enable businesses to grow, communities to prosper, and consumers to live well.
This position is in our Food Enterprise where we are committed to serving food manufacturers, food service customers, and retailers with a complete range of innovative ingredients and branded products. Job Purpose and Impact
The Cocoa Trading Associate will join a high-performance cocoa commercial team in Europe at the center of one of the world's top three cocoa businesses, with integrated exposure from bean to bar. The role supports commercial activity across physical cocoa sourcing and derivatives trading from day one, offering early responsibility in a highly competitive trading environment.
We are looking for a high-potential early-career or postgraduate candidate with a strong commercial and trading mindset: intellectually sharp, highly competitive, deeply curious about markets, with strong analytical capability and capable of developing into a high-impact commercial force on either the physical or derivatives side.
Key Accountabilities
- Work directly with customers, suppliers and business counterparts to develop business solutions to meet their needs.
- Support the cocoa sourcing and derivatives teams with market analysis, trade support, and commercial execution activities.
- Monitor cocoa futures, basis, foreign exchange, and physical market developments; summarize relevant insights for the team.
- Collaborate with logistics, operations, finance, risk, and other internal stakeholders to support smooth execution of commercial activity.
- Assist with position monitoring, exposure tracking, P&L follow-up, and preparation of internal trading or market reports.
- Contribute to the initiation, execution, and follow-up of commodity contracts, ensuring accuracy on pricing, timing, quality, logistics, and documentation.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Agricultural Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, thesis work, or early professional experience in commodities, trading, risk, analytics, or commercial roles.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with confidence working with data and market information.
- Deep interest and genuine passion for markets, agricultural commodities, market dynamics, global macro or geopolitical development, competition, and commercial strategy.
- Clear motivation to build a long-term career in the trading space.
- Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work well with different teams and personalities.
- High integrity, resilience, ownership mindset, and comfort operating in a fast-moving and volatile environment, learns fast and brings original thinking rather than only process-following.
- Additional European language skills are a plus, particularly Dutch and French.
