The Director Communications for Cargill’s Food business in Latin America leads the execution of the tactical and strategic plans related to the organization's business communications, including internal and external communications, business relationship and reputation management, crisis, and organizational change communications. This job provides advanced knowledge and operational guidance to the team for overseeing the organization's reputation internally and externally, ensuring accurate implementation of communication strategies, effective account and channel management, and successful communication campaign efforts. This job ensures messages are effectively delivered to both internal and external partners, supporting positive relationships, facilitating successful organizational change and helping to improve the organization's reputation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT: Builds and executes holistic, multi-channel communication campaigns to drive awareness and engagement around business strategy. Leads the execution of internal and external communication strategies across the organization by clarifying the goals and objectives of communication efforts, reviewing tactics and frameworks to be used, and ensuring annual communication plans, objectives, target audiences, messaging, and channels meet the needs of key accounts and clients.
  • TRUSTED ADVISOR: Act as a trusted advisor to the regional President of Cargill’s Food business in Latin America and Senior Director of Communications for Cargill’s Food enterprise on a wide range of communications issues and opportunities, and influence stakeholders throughout the org.
  • CONTENT & MESSAGE STRATEGY: Leads the implementation of strategies that guide internal and external communication content and messaging across the organization by understanding the organization's goals and objectives, maintaining consistency in messaging and content across different channels and audiences and evaluating strategy effectiveness.
  • REPUTATION MANAGEMENT: Manages efforts to maintain a positive internal and external reputation by implementing strategies to improve and protect the organization's reputation and proactively addressing advanced instances of negative sentiment, misinformation, or potential threats.
  • EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATIONS: Create an employe communicates strategy that connects our teams and fosters Cargill’s company culture in the region. Creates and implements change-communications plans for organizational and operating model changes. 
  • CHANNEL SELECTION: Provides operational guidance for the selection of channels used across the organization that improve reach and engagement, and ensures effective integration and utilization of channels to deliver strong, consistent and aligned communications internally and externally to improve the organization's reputation.
  • RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Maintains business relationships with internal and external partners by approving communication and engagement preferences and needs, and implementing collaboration platforms, social events and workshops that align with organizational goals and guidelines to foster information and feedback sharing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • COMPLIANCE: Leads collaboration with cross functional teams across the organization to identify regulations and guidelines that apply to internal and external communications, and evaluates compliance with legal and ethical standards to mitigate risks and maintain the organization's reputation.
  • CRISIS & ISSUE MANAGEMENT: Provides operational guidance for management of issues and crises by understanding potential risks and proactively building and implementing communications plans.
  • MEASUREMENT: Leads monitoring execution of communications performance by tracking and reporting results based on outcomes, and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • TEAM MANAGEMENT: Manages team members to achieve the organization's goals, by ensuring productivity, communicating performance expectations, creating goal alignment, giving and seeking feedback, providing coaching, measuring progress and holding people accountable, supporting employee development, recognizing achievement and lessons learned, and developing enabling conditions for talent to thrive in an inclusive team culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM 

7 years or more of relevant experience
Native Spanish language speaker; fluent command of the English language required
Fluent in command of the Portuguese language desired, but not required. 
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Expertise across internal communications, executive communications, external and crisis communications (ideally with strong experience with B2C brands)
Tenured experience with large, complex organizational change management and the development and execution of communications strategy with proven results.  
Track record of working closely with C-suite executives across the business and gaining their trust.  
Excellent writing and thinking skills.  
Strong project and people management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong business knowledge with a proven ability to use communications to drive business strategy.

Comfort developing strategy and rolling up sleeves to execute.

Five years of supervisory experience.

Minimum ten years of essential communication or similar related work experience.

Experience working in a global company.
