Software Engineer
Job Purpose and Impact
The Software Engineer develops, tests & maintains secure, reliable Salesforce solutions while applying modern software engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle. With limited supervision, this job collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, writes clean & maintainable code, participates in peer code reviews, creates and maintains automated tests, supports CI/CD, troubleshoots moderately complex issues & helps ensure appropriate quality, security & production readiness. This job primarily develops on the Salesforce platform while contributing additional test engineering capability through functional, regression, integration & end-to-end test automation.
Key Accountabilities
- SOFTWARE ENGINEERING: Develops and maintains high-quality Salesforce software solutions by writing clean, maintainable and efficient code that delivers measurable business value.
- AUTOMATION: Applies internal software deployment platform, methodologies, CI/CD pipelines and tools to support automated builds, testing and reliable deployments.
- COLLABORATION: Partners with product managers, designers and engineers to understand requirements and deliver Salesforce solutions that meet business needs.
- TESTING, DEBUGGING & TEST AUTOMATION: Writes and maintains unit and integration tests, performs debugging, and develops, maintains and executes automated test scripts supporting functional, regression, integration and end-to-end testing. Helps expand automated test coverage and reduce reliance on repetitive manual testing.
- DEFECT MANAGEMENT: Identifies, documents and tracks defects, collaborates with developers and product team members on resolution, and validates fixes through appropriate automated and manual testing.
- AGILE COLLABORATION: Works closely with Product Owners, Developers and other team members in an Agile/Scrum environment to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.
- CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Identifies opportunities to improve software development, testing and deployment processes and applies approved engineering standards to improve quality, efficiency and reliability.
- DOCUMENTATION: Creates and maintains documentation for Salesforce applications, automated tests, deployment processes and system configurations.
- TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Provides technical support and troubleshooting for moderately complex issues with deployed applications and assists with timely resolution and verification.
Qualifications
- Have a Bachelor’s degree with minimum requirement of 4+ years of relevant professional software development experience.
- Hands-on experience in Salesforce software development using Lightning Web Components (LWC), Apex, Salesforce APIs and Salesforce administration.
- Experience writing automated unit tests and contributing to integration, functional and regression test automation, with an emphasis on software quality and repeatability.
- Experience with modern software engineering practices such as Git-based source control, peer code reviews, DevOps, CI/CD and automated quality practices.
- Experience working across the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment and production support.
Good to have:
- Experience with test automation tools or frameworks for web, API and/or mobile applications.
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, mobile applications using React Native, including integration with backend services and APIs.
- Experience testing Salesforce integrations and APIs.
- Good written and oral communication skills along with good product documentation skills.
- Salesforce Platform Developer certification or other relevant Salesforce certifications.
