Job Purpose and Impact
We are seeking a senior front-end focused full-stack engineer to guide and support engineering teams in adopting and implementing Cargill's new design system across existing applications. You will play a pivotal role in helping teams migrate to the new design system, ensuring consistent, modern, and accessible user experience while resolving issues that may arise during the transition. In this hands-on role, you will actively contribute code to implement and curate the design system, working directly with engineering teams to troubleshoot integration challenges, provide technical guidance, and promote best practices for leveraging the design system within existing solutions. Additionally, you will partner with our Design Center of Excellence to evolve and enhance the design system over time, contributing to the development of reusable components that improve consistency and developer efficiency across Cargill's digital ecosystem.
Key Accountabilities
- DESIGN SYSTEM ADOPTION: Guides and supports engineering teams in migrating existing applications to the new design system by actively contributing code, ensuring consistent implementation of reusable components and adherence to accessibility and design standards.
- DESIGN SYSTEM EVOLUTION: Partners with the Design Center of Excellence to enhance and evolve the design system, identifying opportunities for new reusable components and patterns that improve developer efficiency and user experience across applications.
- SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: Designs and develops high quality software solutions by writing clean, maintainable and efficient codes.
- AUTOMATION: Leads the application of internal software deployment platform, methodologies and tools to automate the deployment process, ensuring smooth and reliable releases.
- COLLABORATION: Partners with cross functional team of product managers, designers and different engineers to gather complex requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- TESTING & DEBUGGING: Writes and maintains complex unit tests and integration tests, and performs debugging to maintain the quality and performance of the software.
- CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Suggests options for improving the software development and deployment processes, and implements the approved standards to improve efficiency and reliability.
- DOCUMENTATION: Builds and maintains comprehensive documentation for complex software applications, deployment processes and system configurations.
- TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Provides technical support and troubleshooting for complex issues with deployed applications to ensure minimal downtime and fast resolution.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.
- Experience with React, Next, Vite, and/or TanStack, with the ability to quickly learn and work with new and unfamiliar programming languages as needed.
- Proven experience working with platform engineering practices, including Infrastructure as Code, automated end-to-end testing, and integration with unified observability and artifact repositories
Preferred Experience:
Experience leading teams in adopting DevOps philosophies, incorporating configuration as code, application packaging.
Expertise in applying performance profiling techniques, infrastructure normalization, and leveraging constrained technology catalogs to reduce complexity and enhance automation
- Ability to work closely with platform teams to ensure alignment with opinionated deployment pipelines and security practices
Short Description
External Posting: Minnesota Sick and Safe Leave accruals of one hour for every 30 worked, up to 48 hours per calendar year unless otherwise provided by law.
The expected salary for this position is $116,000-$156,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance. At Cargill we put people first.
