Job Purpose and Impact

Seasoned professional individual contributor. Works independently with limited supervision. Manages large projects or processes. Coaches and reviews the work of other professionals. Problems faced are difficult (i.e. require significant effort) and often complex (i.e., involve multiple layers and components to solve). Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures.

The Senior Credit Analyst job evaluates complex counterparty risks for corporations, banks, and sovereigns trading with Ocean Transportation (OT) and the World Trading Group (WTG) in the assigned markets to mitigate potential risks and support the organization's financial security. With minimal supervision, this job develops an integrated view of risks on counterparties and transactions and partners with the business to meet risk and reward targets and leverage credit as a catalyst for growth.

Key Accountabilities

  • COUNTERPARTY ANALYSIS: Conducts and reviews financial statement analysis of counterparties including cashflow forecasting to ensure high quality and unbiased credit reviews, assigns ratings through qualitative and quantitative analysis and provides clearly argued conclusions and limit recommendations.
  • COUNTERPARTY RESEARCHING & MONITORING: Monitors counterparties and anticipates the potential impact of market events on the business environment for specific counterparties or portfolios.
  • RISK MANAGEMENT: Partners to develop understanding of trade financing structures and provide objective risk related inputs on transactions as well as recommend opportunities for risk mitigation and loss prevention.
  • RISK MONITORING: Maintains close communication with commercial, trade execution and Credit to Cash teams to ensure adequate implementation of risk mitigation and accurate reporting of exposures within approved limits.
  • PROCESS EXCELLENCE & IMPROVEMENT: Reviews reports, ensuring strong and accurate reporting standards and participates in ad hoc projects to actively seek ideas to improve existing processes and methodologies.
  • BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP: Communicates with internal stakeholders and external counterparties to build and maintain positive relationships, facilitate smooth transactions and influence timely and strategic decisions on credit risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
  • Certified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
  • Knowledge and familiarity with global trading as well as commercial processes and traded and derivative products including futures, options and swaps and execution and clearing on global markets
  • Experience leading complex trade structuring projects in a decision-making capacity
  • Familiarity with global physical commodity merchandising and experience and mitigating associated credit/counterparty risk, for example, through use of Letter of Credits or other collateral arrangements
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in financial analysis, risk management or related roles in a complex, multinational environment
  • Strong customer focus with experience in building strong customer relationships and delivering customer centric credit solutions
