This position is in Cargill’s agricultural supply chain business. We sit at the heart of the supply chain, partnering with farmers and customers to source, make and deliver essential products.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Crop Input Sales Associate will participate in face-to- face and remote selling to our new and existing customers, selling directly or indirectly through various sales channels. We seek a results-oriented professional who, with guidance, will help assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products, services and solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to developing and delivering sales quotes, presentations and participating in product demonstrations.
  • Help identify and contact prospective customers, building relationships to generate future sales and repeat business.
  • With basic knowledge of products, their characteristics and market, sell and stimulate demand for a series of products.
  • Plan daily activities, including customer visits to achieve territory specific sales goals and objectives.
  • Follow market and competition evolution, passing information to senior staff.
  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Knowledge of the Canadian agricultural production and farm management  
  • Knowledge of agronomy services, farm customers and the agriculture industry  
  • Possess a valid Canadian Full Class 5 Driver’s License in good standing, authorizing you to drive independently during the course of your employment.  
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada 

Preferred

  • Diploma/Certificate or bachelor’s degree in a related field such as a diploma in Agricultural Business, Agronomy, Plant Science, Soils Science.
  • Eligible to be a membership in the Provincial Institute of Agrologists  
  • Previous scouting experience  
  • Sales aptitude
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience  
  • Knowledge of the crop inputs business and the significance of supplier relationships
