Job Purpose and Impact
The Research Biotechnologist will apply innovative technology to help drive the development of new products and improved processes for the food, feed and bio-industrial segments across Cargill’s business units. The key responsibility of this role will be to apply molecular biology, protein expression and protein purification techniques in coordination with fermentation and analytical teams to produce target proteins. This position is based in the Minneapolis, MN Research and Development Center (Plymouth).
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct hands-on research and execute on molecular biology techniques such as DNA cloning, PCR, DNA transformation, gel electrophoresis
- Perform and optimize processes for cell culture, protein expression, purification, quality control and screening
- Stay informed of new laboratory technologies being used in the field.
- Use associated software applications, modeling techniques and information systems to collect, store and analyze scientific data.
- Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven working knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology and cell biology
- Minimum of two years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in protein expression using various host systems, and protein purification using AKTA systems
- Working knowledge of software applications, modeling techniques, and information systems used to collect, store, and analyze scientific data

Compensation
- The expected salary for this position is $82,000 – 105,000. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
