Protein Sales Associate Position
Our Protein Sales Associates receive individualized, localized and business facilitated training. They gain technical understanding of animal protein processing, including process flow, yields, variances, USDA regulations, accounting, and information technologies. Our team also receives additional training in core business functions, leadership development, professional sales, and career planning to prepare to become a sales professional. Development will be collaborative and delivered in a multi-level team environment to efficiently prepare you for an extraordinary career with protein! In time, you will actively engage and manage a customer portfolio promoting, selling, and merchandising Cargill Protein products.
Potential Business Areas:
Trade Sales (Including Beef and Food Distribution); Retail Sales; Protein Ingredient Sales; and Foodservice Sales
Training
Think about the opportunity to join in a structured training and development program crafted to build specific skills and knowledge while being exposed to all facets of our Protein business operations. The training is designed to teach various aspects of the business prior to placement in an area that connects both the candidate interests and business needs. Portions of the training will include visits to plants, processing facilities, corporate and Protein Headquarters and other offices.
During the one-year training program, you will gain: Leadership and development training; Plant operations experiences; Focused sales training; and Assigned business projects.
This training enables the individual to become familiar with the workflow of business operations, and to develop knowledge of meat processing production, including food safety, products, markets, USDA and Cargill's global reach.Associates will receive training in a number of areas to learn skills and gain knowledge vital to succeed in a sales leadership role. Following the training program, associates will be placed in an account manager role that aligns the candidate with business needs.
Your Work
- Apply broad theoretical job knowledge to sell directly to customers.
- Engage in all training/development programs as crafted.
- Solicit and deliver sales bids, proposals, presentations, and product demonstrations as guided.
- Identify and contact prospective customers.
- Build customer relationships that generate future sales and repeat business.
- Perform with minimal direction and independently handle sophisticated clerical, administrative, technical, and customer support issues while referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Other duties as assigned; building reports, participating in projects etc
Compensation
This position anticipates an annual salary of $60,000.

Job Locations

- Office setting with travel to plants for training as needed
- Travel approximately 20% or less
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program with a graduation date between December 2024 and May 2025
- Geographically flexible and willing and able to relocate to various locations across the United States
- Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
- Ability to work optimally with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds and cultures
- Ability and wiliness to travel up to 20% of the time as needed
- Valid driver’s license in the United States
- Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually
- Strong written and oral communications
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program with a major in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Agriculture Management or similar agricultural subject area
- Previous intern or co-op experience
- Overall 3.0 GPA or higher based off of a 4.0 scale
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions independently
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with ability to influence decision-making
- Leadership experience
