Job Purpose and Impact

The North America Packaging Category Director will execute the sourcing strategy for a region or business unit, using best practices and interpersonal skills to align with key partners and implement successfully. In this role, you will lead the development and execution of packaging category strategies, leveraging market insights, supplier partnerships, and industry expertise to drive business growth, innovation, sustainability, supply assurance, and cost competitiveness.     

Key Accountabilities

  • Partner with business, commercial, operations, R&D, supply chain, and procurement stakeholders to identify priorities and ensure category strategies enable business growth, supply assurance, innovation, sustainability, and cost competitiveness.
  • Serve as the strategic owner of the category portfolio, translating business requirements, market intelligence, supplier dynamics, and risk considerations into actionable category strategies.
  • Lead the category strategy development process, including current-state assessment, future-state design, opportunity identification, strategic hypothesis development, business case creation, and execution roadmap development.
  • Lead category execution through cross-functional teams, ensuring sourcing initiatives, supplier strategies, and improvement programs are delivered against commitments and expected outcomes.
  • Develop deep understanding of packaging markets, suppliers, technologies, industry trends, and emerging risks to provide insights and recommendations to the business.
  • Influence stakeholders and mobilize resources across multiple functions to execute category priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, packaging, manufacturing, or related business disciplines
  • Experience developing and executing category, sourcing, supplier, or business strategies
  • Packaging industry or packaging technical expertise
  • Able to travel occasionally based on business needs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading teams, projects, or strategic programs
  • Three years of supervisory experience
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority
  • Knowledge of packaging materials, converting processes, supplier markets, manufacturing operations, and packaging innovation trends in the food industry

The expected salary for this position is $150,000K - $180,000K. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
