Job Purpose and Impact

The Sustainability Manager, Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Reporting & Strategic Initiatives will provide input and drive implementation of our sustainability strategy and programs. In this role, you will work across supply chains, with businesses, corporate team members, outside industry groups and with downstream customers with a goal of delivering practical sustainability solutions that enable our business to grow while meeting external expectations for transparency through ESG reporting and strategic initiatives. You will help to develop, train and influence internal teams to gain proficiently in reporting expectations and engaging financial partners and customers in our sustainability programs and offerings. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide insights and input into sustainability strategies and incorporate emerging opportunities and expectations of our customers as well as corporate ESG goals. 
  • Specific duties to include: responsibility for managing end to end reporting work products assigned, providing critical ESG reporting expertise in the development, planning and execution of ESG reporting and strategic initiatives.   
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously through clear project plans and communication with cross-functional internal partners to ensure successful outcomes 
  • Gain expertise and an understanding of various external programs, digital technology solutions and ESG reporting and ratings frameworks that the industry is using to engage key stakeholders. 
  • Track and report key metrics aligned to sustainability strategy and business goals to ensure the value and progress is transparent to internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Implement and maintain a process to track milestones and actual results against reporting program and performance outcomes to key stakeholders. 
  • Drive the execution of project plans, working directly with internal and external stakeholders to build engagement and trust and develop training tools, workshops and learning sessions to assist with internal and external execution. 
  • Partner with the communications teams to optimally position sustainability with financial partners and customers and support development of internal employee communications strategy to tell the story of our efforts across Cargill and our supply chains. 
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience 

  • Minimum of 4 years of ESG reporting, project management experience with ESG reporting frameworks 

  • Excellence in critical thinking, written and verbal stakeholder communications 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Graduate degree in a related field
  • 8+ years of corporate impact, responsibility, or sustainability experience
  • Experience with ESG reporting and ratings frameworks and stakeholder management
  • Food or agriculture industry experience

The preferred location for this role is based out of our Wayzata, MN office.

Minnesota Sick and Safe Leave accruals of one hour for every 30 worked, up to 48 hours per calendar year unless otherwise provided by law
