Job Purpose and Impact

The Business Development Representative will contribute to increasing sales and revenue from new and existing market segments and channels. In this role, you will help shape business expansion strategies and provide input into the company's annual business development plans to reach objectives and revenue. The Business Development Rep will develop ways to increase sales and revenue from new customers in existing market segments and channels. In this role, you will develop and implement business plans, work cross functionally with marketing and technical teams, build new and nurture existing relationships to reach objectives and revenue goals.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with category marketing and R&D tags to understand business requirements and market needs.
  • Pursue new market segments and opportunities for business development, calculating return and investment. With guidance, prioritize pipeline development activities and set revenue targets.
  • Monitor market development activities to align with company business goals. Ensure sales, marketing strategies and tactics utilized by the business are effectively aligned. Recommend adaptations and changes to the strategy as appropriate.
  • Nurture a small set of existing accounts to maintain and grow the business. 
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum requirement of 3 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 4 years or more of relevant experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight up to 25%
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Package

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, technical service or business development in the food & beverage industry focused on food ingredients. 

External Applicant Information

The expected salary for this position is $80,000 to $110,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.  At Cargill we put people first.
