This position is in Cargill’s animal nutrition and health business, where we improve animal lives through better nutrition. Our team researches, innovates and creates solutions that deliver healthy results for our customers.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Food Safety and Quality Technician (3rd Shift) will complete complex analytical and laboratory testing in support of the food safety quality and operational teams. In this role, you will perform complex analysis of product testing, be responsible for checking and monitoring instrumentation performance, conduct tests and document results into databases and communicate test results.
Key Accountabilities
Perform routine analysis on final and in process products and ensure that finished products meet required specifications prior to releasing shipments.
Perform food safety and quality leadership, coaching and mentoring to employees in a pet & livestock feed manufacturing facility.
Training operators in the production floor and reviewing the documentation.
Enter data into databases and communicate results verbally or in writing, resolve problems by examining and evaluating data and select corrective steps.
Assists with the evaluation and interpretation of highly complex data, identifies problems with atypical test results consulting with upper-level personnel.
Support trials and experiments under the direction of more senior team members.
Perform food safety and quality leadership, coaching and mentoring to facility employees.
Handle complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
Authorize final release by providing approval for products prior to shipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.

Qualifications
Minimum Required
High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
Possesses proven working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation
Able to work Monday to Friday on morning shift 1am to 9:30am
Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
Preferred
Diploma/Certificate or bachelor’s degree
Minimum of three years of experience within a laboratory or food manufacturing environment
Experience in a food, pet food, or livestock feed production environment
Ability to work as part of a team
