Grains & Oilseeds Commercial Internship:

The Commercial and Trading Intern will support the Southeast Asia Grains & Oilseeds team in trading analysis, commercial planning and customer engagement. The role provides practical exposure to physical commodity markets across Corn, Soybeans, Soybean Meal, Soybean Sundry Products and Wheat, including High Seas bulk flows, regional containers and selected intra-regional opportunities.

Working with traders, commercial leads and cross-functional partners, the intern will turn market, customer and performance data into clear insights and help the team maintain disciplined follow-through on regional priorities. The position is designed to add analytical and execution capacity while building an early-career talent pipeline for commercial and trading roles.

The internship provides structured, hands-on experience in economics, customer service, risk assessment, communication and decision-making in a fast-paced, price-volatile environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Regional commercial initiatives. Support projects linked to High Seas implementation, regional container growth, intra-regional trade and go-to-market development. Assist with trade-flow mapping, market sizing, competitor benchmarking, business cases and evaluation of new opportunities.
  • Trading book and market support. Help monitor short-term trading strategies and books for assigned commodities, markets or customers, including speculative and hedged positions under direct supervision. Track cash and futures prices, supply-and-demand, freight, trade flows, customer and competitor activity, and relevant industry trends; prepare concise market summaries and data packs for team discussions.
  • Data, digital and process improvement. Help maintain commercial dashboards and structured datasets, and identify practical opportunities to simplify recurring reporting through Power BI, automation or responsible use of AI. Document processes and propose improvements that reduce manual work and strengthen transparency.

SUPERVISION AND DECISION AUTHORITY

The interns will work under the direction of the Commercial Director and designated traders or commercial leads. The roles do not carry independent authority to trade, price, hedge, approve credit or contracts, commit Cargill to customers, or communicate external commercial positions without prior review and authorization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in business, economics, finance, analytics, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with clear written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, including when information or outcomes are uncertain.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate, influence and communicate with colleagues across countries and time zones.
  • Motivated, adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, price-volatile environment.
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply.
