This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Merchant role within Cargill’s Bioindustrial (CBI) business is pivotal in managing raw material costs and overall business margins. CBI brings new bio-based technologies to the market that compete with traditional petro-based applications, working to create a more sustainable future. This role will manage tradeable raw materials’ futures, basis, and currency risks in a quickly growing market for CBI. CBI is an entrepreneurial business with unique opportunities in which the Trade and Risk Management group can greatly impact the bottom line. The person in this role will be a leader for the region, working with a global team of traders to manage market risks and position the business for success. This role will grow in scope and diversity of tasks as the business commercializes new products and grows its existing product mix in the region. #LI-ES2
Key Accountabilities
Meet plant requirements for tradeable raw materials, primarily focusing on soybean oil, but also a handful of specialty oils.
Work with local and global partners to develop, verbalize, and execute on a soybean oil market view
Work on a local team with equal responsibility and accountability for success
Ensure a process that reconciles positions, contracts, and deliveries to the plant
Work with commercial teams as requested to provide market insight and overall margin integrity
Generate market, position and profit and loss reports based on data and specialty reports.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Solid related work experience
- Experience working with Raw Material Costs
- Fluency in English and Portuguese
