Job Purpose and Impact

This position is responsible for procuring assigned feed ingredients for C-Joy Poultry’s feed mills in the Philippines. The TRM Feed Ingredients - Procurement Officer/Buyer will serve as specific feed ingredient market contact for C-Joy in the Philippines. This role will be expected to drive value for the business via: tactical origination (i.e., geographies and suppliers), and management of price risk of feed ingredients.

The role will be inter-disciplinary and will be expected to communicate effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders. They will work closely with the Senior Merchant in providing inputs to commercial leadership to help set prices for chicken sales with the business’ customers. This role will also work together with the local feed mill team in an effort to minimize feed costs for the business.

Key Accountabilities

35% Feed ingredient risk management

    • Define and execute local feed ingredient sourcing strategy, along with the Senior Merchant
    • Work with the Feed Mill team on feed formulation opportunities, in an effort to reduce feed costs
    • Identify opportunities to capitalize on Cargill’s risk management expertise with customers/suppliers

30% Optimize supply chain

    • Understand and track pipeline requirements for assigned feed ingredients
    • Create reporting to track costs associated with feed ingredient pipeline
    • Minimize supply chain inefficiencies, and track associated value created
    • Identify supply risks and install mitigation actions where needed

30% Supplier engagement and procurement administrative tasks

    • Liase with market participants (e.g., customers, brokers, suppliers) to better understand competitive landscape, market pricing, and sourcing opportunites

5% Develop structure and process for administrative tasks

    • Work with sales team to define cadence, and content, of market updates for strategic customers (i.e., Jolibee)
    • Create desired format for market updates
    • Continue to develop managerial reporting to help define business risk associated with feed price changes
    • Execute purchase contracts
    • Ensure accurate position reporting

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • University Degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in feed ingredient procurement (e.g. Planning, Operations, Logistics, Procurement/Sourcing)
  • Exposure to and understanding of Philippine grain markets
  • Fluency in Tagalog/English
  • Experience with working in a multinational/-cultural environment
  • Experience with working in a large matrix organization set-up
  • Leadership experience (managing through others, influencing, developing) 
  • Strong team player (Player/Coach principle)
  • Strong communication, influencing and motivation skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical, business process and problem-solving capabilities
  • Build relationships within Cargill and within supply base
