Job Purpose and Impact

The R&D Associate Director Foodservice & Retail Oils & Fats will drive and execute strategies for the category, using the company's regional research team and working with the company’s global R&D team. In this role, you will develop strategies to execute work through your team by guiding their collaboration with internal and external key partners to drive and support customer needs, business objectives and growth strategies through innovation, new product development and research. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Build and communicate the regional research and development project pipeline including planned projects and opportunity spaces. Collaborate with business leaders, customers and cross functional partners to identify opportunities to leverage existing products and emerging research and technology innovations as well as to identify areas for future business growth
  • Make strategic choices on objectives and targets with a clear target to build business through projects related to new business development and new products or solutions offerings
  • Implement the research and development technology roadmap translated from the global technical team 
  • Build strong functional working relationships and collaborate with customers and internal and external stakeholders. Deliver business and technical leadership to cross functional partners to influence and drive resource alignment, customer, and innovation pipeline, as anticipate trends. 
  • Ensure programs, processes and control mechanisms comply with laws, regulations and company policies. 
  • Create and maintain the budget and expenses for the research team, align resources to deliver on strategic plans and execute programs that create operating efficiencies. Asset management of the equipment and space utilized by the team for research and development execution
  • Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor s degree in a related field  
  • Research and development work experience with direct business to business or business to consumer customer experience 
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience 
  • Ability to travel up to 15% 


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Advanced degree in scientific discipline 
  • Three or more years of supervisory experience 
  • Experience leading a team of R&D applications and technical services- scientists 
  • Experience working with customers or R&D in the Retail and/or Foodservice oils space

The expected salary for this position is $160,000 - $190,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
