This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Food Scientist - Bakery will provide technical expertise to new product development for product line growth and technology and process development for the creation of new capabilities. In this role, you will coordinate with other scientists to innovate new product development by identifying and implementing technical solutions to meet business goals.
Key Accountabilities
Identify product growth and new product opportunities.
Analyze and interpret market data to take advantage of opportunities and minimize adverse trends.
Stay abreast of current literature and analytical advancements.
Provide technical guidance and leadership on products, process development and improvement, quality systems and regulatory oversight.
Partner and stay connected with cross functional teams that include marketing, insights, sales, ops, food safety quality and regulatory.
Provide findings and analysis with insights, research and commercial brand to develop short and long term testing programs for experimental and commercial products and hybrids.
Collaborate and build partnership with sales, technical service, business management and marketing partners to identify customer needs and translate these into new product development opportunities.
Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Minimum requirement of 2 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or other post-secondary degree
Tech-savvy and comfortable with evolving business-critical technology
Strategic thinker with ability to build effective plans to support strategic initiatives
Experience working successfully in a matrixed organization
Two or more years combined professional experience in the following areas: formulation development, ingredient functionality and product commercialization.
Experience working in bakery and/or snacks product categories
Prior experience in product management

The expected salary for this position is $82,000 - $92,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
