The Role

We have a great opportunity for a Production Fitter Operator to join Cargill's facility in Newcastle.


As part of a small and autonomous team, you will be responsible for maintaining optimum asset health for plant equipment, systems and structures. Providing a diverse work environment, you will work independently on individual assignments and support on larger cross team projects, with the opportunity to learn and support across all plant areas.


Within a supportive team environment, you will work collaboratively and communicate with various teams across the plant and play an important role in safety and addressing near miss/incident conditions.

Job Purpose and Impact

The purpose of this position is to operate and maintain highly automated production machinery in an organized and efficient manner to process edible oil products to food safety standards and accurately complete production records. As well as operating machinery, you will conduct preventative and repair maintenance tasks and improvement activities. Interaction and effective communication with other production staff, administration personnel and supervisors.

Key Accountabilities

  • Operate an edible oil shortening plant to set food safety and quality standards in an efficient and safe method.
  • Operate an edible oils Deodorization and Bleaching plants to set food safety and quality standards in an efficient and safe method.
  • Safe transfer of food processing aids to maintain production.
  • Plant cleaning and housekeeping to food safety standards as directed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have very good time management skills.
  • Must be able to priorities tasks and follow up skills.
  • Must be willing to accept accountability.
  • Must be computer literate including being able to enter and retrieve data accurately.
  • Must have demonstrated high performance (work performance, attendance record, safety record).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in operational systems such as Baileys and Delta V
  • Experience in SAP
