This position is in Cargill’s agricultural supply chain business. We sit at the heart of the supply chain, partnering with farmers and customers to source, make and deliver essential products.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Grain Sales Associate, you will participate in a sales training program to prepare you to become a specialist in grain origination and the sale of various grain marketing solutions.. In this role, you will help farmers prosper and improve their return by utilizing Cargill’s full range of products, solve customer problems and create new opportunities. Typically a Grain Sales Associate will be assigned a territory within 12 months.

Key Accountabilities

  • With supervision, help identify, develop and close new sales.
  • Help support business growth by disseminating information that favorably promotes the organization and its products and services.
  • With supervision, coordinate market research, pricing and sales and merchandising activities.
  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Participate in training with employees from various job functions to learn how to develop long-term relationships with identified customers, working both over the phone and face-to-face with grain producers on the farm. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong interest in agriculture
  • Valid Canadian Driver's licence in good standing
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree from an accredited program with a major in Agricultural Business, Ag Econ, Ag Management or similar agricultural discipline
  • Previous sales experience 
  • Farming background
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office application
