This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products. 

Job Purpose and Impact

The Engineer III position is located at an operating refinery and is focused on results, projects, processes, and procedures related to cost and yield optimization of all unit operations within the refinery operation.  The MTE is responsible for accurate measurement, identification, and implementation of improvements with regards to yields and efficiencies. In this role you will be developing and executing trials, partnering with external vendors and technology providers, and developing business cases for improvements in accordance with local (or regional) opportunities within the technology. 

Key Accountabilities

  • •    Measure yield and efficiency and report process improvement activities utilizing both leading and lagging key performance results.
    •    Develop a Statistically Supported Decision Making (SSDM) (or other) structured approach to increase plant yield and efficiencies based on keen benefit and effort prioritization.
    •    Design and improve manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment, testing manufactured products to maintain quality.
    •    Perform engineering process qualification or evaluation which includes generating and executing test plans, data collection and analysis, reporting and communication status and results to stakeholders.
    •    Develop and implement small capital projects to increase plant yield and efficiencies.
    •    Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.  
    •    Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Ability to travel 15% of time occasionally as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Certification Green Belt
  • Experience using processes/tools (RCA, Fishbone, Bubble Diagram, etc.) and facilitating these types of workshops.  
  • Intermediate with Advanced potential knowledge of Food Safety, OSHA Administration and Environmental regulations.
  • Understanding of Minitab or similar statistical application.
  • Understanding of OSIsoft PI and basic understanding of AutoCAD, MS Project
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, Project)
  • Experience in a chemical, food, packaging, or pharmaceutical facility       
  • Knowledge of PSRM / HHP process management, LOPA, etc.
