This position is in Cargill’s agricultural supply chain business. We sit at the heart of the supply chain, partnering with farmers and customers to source, make and deliver essential products.


Job Purpose and Impact

Location Liverpool Brocklebank  - L20 8FD

Cargill’s rapeseed crush plant and refinery based in Brocklebank, Liverpool has been operating since 1995. The crush plant produces mid protein meal and crude rape oil and has facilities to outload oil for export.    

The Lead Mechanic will apply technical knowledge to design, develop and maintain overall governance on standards, application, gaps, solutions and measurements to increase production quality, efficiency and volume for the business. In this role, you will perform routine activities related to mechanical, piping and equipment engineering to enable projects and improve our capabilities by providing engineering support for the organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Site supervision for mechanical activities, being the driver for health & safety standards. 

  • Apply general knowledge of principles, terms and practices of mechanical, piping and equipment engineering to support the design and build of safe and reliable operations.

  • Coordinate and provide direct support and delivery of services for an operation.

  • Monitor and support progress for low to medium complexity projects ensuring appropriate resource allocation and portfolio prioritization.

  • Implement, monitor and track audit control mechanisms within area of scope to track performance and provide actionable solutions that contribute to improvements.

  • Support more senior team members to assess mechanical, piping and equipment engineering development and application opportunities and further dissemination across common practice areas.

  • Support analysis and develop conclusions regarding areas of improvement and identify opportunities to improve performance and determine acceptable risk tolerance.

  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Apprentice trained with demonstrable relevant work experience OR

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree e.g. Engineering, Mechanical / Chemical Engineering.   #LI-VB2 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CMMS experience (SAP) preferred, to schedule and organise weekly tasks for the maintenance department. 

  • Good communication skills, professional/effective relationships with mechanical & process departments. Ability to react to complex breakdown situations ensuring assets are repair in a safe/efficient way

  • Strong technical and mathematical skills

  • Intermediate project management skills

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques
