This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Process Development Specialist will join a global R&D team with a commitment to driving new product chemistry and process development capabilities across all business within Cargill Bioindustrial.
In this role, you will be laboratory-based, and collaborate with research teams, manufacturing sites, commercial teams and supporting functions (product safety, quality, regulatory, IP, supply chain, etc.), to implement business defined technology needs. You will work on chemical process development, product improvements and piloting efforts in one or more broad core technology components and execute research projects that are moderately complex in nature and may require multidisciplinary approaches.
Location: United Kingdom, Hull (HU6 7PH).
The position is 100% on site.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide knowledge to project teams and functions and offer technical guidance and scientific insight for new process development and process improvements.
- Ensure multiple projects are prioritized and executed according to plan and results are documented and communicated.
- Provide contributions to new product or high-performance innovation efforts.
- Identify and address new process or product opportunities that create distinct value and enable business growth.
- Support and comply with corporate and local safety policies and procedures.
- Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Optimize manufacturing processes from laboratory to full scale production, in support of project requirements.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a science related field or equivalent experience (chemistry preferred).
- Experience in process technologies relevant to process development and scale up in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Laboratory synthesis skills (working at high pressures), knowledge of wet chemistry methods and analytical instrumentation principles.
- Proven relevant work experience in an industrial laboratory environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in process improvement or optimization efforts.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma manufacturing would be useful.
