This position is in Cargill’s animal nutrition and health business, where we improve animal lives through better nutrition. Our team researches, innovates and creates solutions that deliver healthy results for our customers.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Formulation Manager will lead a formulation team to efficiently balance technical constraints, ingredient costs and raw material quality and availability according to supply and demand plans. In this role, you will drive established practices, policies and facts and influence others to reach agreement across the different functions and teams in the business.
Key Accountabilities
- Set formulation objectives and deliver work with high impact.
- Identify problems and develop new solutions to meet our customer needs.
- Review and update formulation operational policies or procedures as well as specialized industry practices and standards. Develop new policies and procedures including global and corporate programs.
- Review and organize formulation work for soundness of judgment and overall quality and efficiency.
- Develop and implement the significant changes to formulation routines or schedules that includes when tasks are completed efficiently.
- Lead and develop a team, coach, and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions. You will also spend time completing the same tasks as employees on your team.
- Ensure a close collaboration with operations, quality, nutrition technology and continuous improvement colleagues to achieve efficient and effective execution and high customer satisfaction.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or minimum of four years of related work experience
- Commercial and business mindset and a strong interest in agriculture and animal nutrition
- Good analytical skills for dealing with complex situations and good communication skills.
- Confident and comfortable in using different software applications.
- Able to work independently and connect virtually with team members and cross functional contacts
- Skills and experience in formulation operational policies and procedures and deep understanding of specialized industry practices and standards
- Collaborate with operations, quality, nutrition technology and continuous improvement colleagues to achieve efficient and effective execution and high customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Nutritional knowledge combined with formulation experience
- Experience leading a technical team with staff from multiple locations and disciplines
