This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.


Job Purpose and Impact

The Occupational Health Nurse will perform occupational health care activities, including health and wellness training and education, employee health services and compliance. In this position, you will be licensed to practice in your province of employment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Using technical knowledge and training, assist in designing and executing employee health and wellness programs.
  • Responsible of Emergency Response for minor- critical injuries.
  • Conduct safety and ergonomic training and administer drug and alcohol programs.
  • Treat, evaluate, and assess employee illness and/or injury and determine appropriate medical direction.
  • Develop, formulate, and implement plans of care based on standing orders and medical directives.
  • Help determine what employees can do under a restrictive duty program, when they can return to work and when to refer them to an outside medical provider.
  • Support OH&S required record keeping.
  • You will work under the direct supervision and handle basic issues and problems while referring more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nurse
  • Registered Nurse (with CARNA)
  • Possesses a CPR-BLS certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and Excel
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and administering employee health and wellness programs for a large organization
  • Experience in occupational health and nursing
  • Experience in acute care or emergency care
  • Advanced first aid certification
