This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Food Safety Quality and Regulatory Technician (12 month term – part time) will provide quality assurance and food safety technical support through testing and auditing process documentation and data collection and analysis. In this role, you will collaborate to identify quality assurance issues and analyze data to uncover risks and support knowledge transfer.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct inspections of finished products or raw materials pre-operational inspections to identify trends in defects or errors and support more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision.
- Conduct documentation review of hazard analysis, food safety and quality documents.
- Assists in audits and shelf life projects through testing, preparing reports and final summaries.
- Manage customer complaints and ensure appropriate actions and preventative measures are in place to prevent reoccurrence.
- Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of related work experience
- Able to work on cold environment, and spend long hours walking and standing
- Able to work on a day shift, 3 days a week (6:00 am to 2:30 pm).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress, College diploma or certification in Food Science
- Experience working in a Manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of meat processing, sanitation and good manufacturing practices
- Experience in Food safety, HACCP, and regulatory and third-party requirements
