Embedded in the team of the global company Cargill, Delacon researches, develops and produces natural feed additives for poultry, pigs, ruminants and aquaculture at the Engerwitzdorf site (Linz area)

Job Purpose and Impact

The Pilot Plant Specialist will carry out the company's pilot production activities and studies to develop new and current projects and produce prototypes while following established food safety, environmental and health and safety procedures and policies. In this role, you will be a key member of the product development team by taking operational responsibility of the pilot plant.

Key Accountabilities

  • Run daily activities the pilot plant, equipment and utilities.
  • Perform application work in lab or pilot plant on development projects and perform analytical and chemical lab analyses on prototypes or raw materials and record results.
  • Coordinate and conduct customer visits to the pilot plant, based on company procedures.
  • Develop recipes, processes and formulation based on customer requests and projects.
  • Visit production lines for product trials when needed and organize, observe and follow up the production trials on the large-scale production and support on processing.
  • Evaluate and report the results of application work of lab and pilot plant on development projects.
  • Collaborate with Procurement in the search and approval of new ingredients and suppliers and maintain supply inventory, ordering supplies, package and raw materials.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science or food engineering (e.g. Food and Feed Technology / /Animal Nutrition)
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in a production environment (food, feed or chemical production)
  • Fluent in both English and German
  • Knowledge in analytical methods (chemical and physical methods)
  • Experience with experimental design, data analysis, and pilot plant management.
  • Experience in working with formulation and recipes


Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer proficiency.
  • Experience collaborating across functional areas and outstanding customer focus.
  • Project Management knowledge and skills
