This position is in Cargill’s animal nutrition and health business, where we improve animal lives through better nutrition. Our team researches, innovates and creates solutions that deliver healthy results for our customers.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Processing Technician will prepare a variety of animal feed and animal by-product samples for laboratory analysis. This role will also perform high volume analytical testing that is of low complexity. The Тechnician will assist and work with senior analysts and peers to enable high volumes of analyses to be safely and effectively performed daily.  The position will interact with feed samples, inventory and data systems, MS Office software, and a limited assortment of analytical hardware such as weighing apparatuses, grinders, and moisture ovens.  

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform high volume of routine laboratory tasks and assist in the development of data including but not limited to weighing samples, grinding samples, labeling, solution preparation, filtration, moisture analyses and other proximate analyses under minimal supervision.
  • Perform general laboratory functions including documenting procedures, safe storage of materials, use and disposal of chemicals and regulatory and safety compliance as part of maintaining the laboratory.
  • Maintain inventory and availability records.
  • Assist in the coordination of analytical process completion.
  • Maintain and use inventory, data, and computer systems database.
  • Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
  • Minimum requirement of 2 years of relevant work experience. 
  • Intermediate PC and MS Office experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in laboratory-related field
