This position is in Cargill’s agricultural supply chain business. We sit at the heart of the supply chain, partnering with farmers and customers to source, make and deliver essential products.
Job Purpose and Impact
As a Cargill Merchant, you will be responsible for supplying two of the largest mills in Germany, which together process over one million tons annually. In this role, you will continuously build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and business partners. You will also analyze regional and local markets, develop strategies and trading ideas, and ensure smooth operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Procure grain for two major Cargill mills and ensure smooth execution of transactions.
- Collaborate with departments such as transportation and logistics, quality assurance, key account management, and risk management to ensure efficient operations
- Actively trade grain or oilseeds on local cash and futures markets
- Manage market exposure, positions, budgeting and profit and loss in a dynamic market environment
- Conduct market research and analyze freight options to maximize profit margins
- Work closely with customers, suppliers, and partners to develop solutions that meet business needs
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience
- Relevant work experience in a similar industry
- Strong customer focus and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Capable of working independently and making decisions autonomously
- Fluent in English and German
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, international environment
