Job Purpose and Impact

Location: Deventer (Netherlands) This is a site based role (Monday-Friday Days at the factory)

The R&D Expert Coatings & Fillings will manage research and development activities through effective trial coordination, execution, data analysis, and stakeholder alignment as part of Food Innovation Cocoa & Chocolate. In this role , you will contribute to the delivery of innovation projects by supporting researchers with industrial trials, scale-up activities, technical evaluations, and process optimization.

You will be accountable for supporting innovation and R&D activities, ensuring effective translation of products and processes from pilot to manufacturing, while maintaining strong collaboration with R&D, Operations, FSQR, Supply Chain and customer-facing teams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Plan and perform quality assurance for trials and keep continuous and active dialogues with technical service, operations, FSQR and other key stakeholders
  • Lead trial preparation, execution and follow-up activities to ensure timelines, deliverables and project objectives are achieved
  • Lead continuous improvement together with trial teams using measurable performance indicators and drive scientific method development in cooperation with researchers
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures are followed and updated and trials comply to the safety program and quality requirements. Pprovide guidance during  trial execution when needed
  • Responsible for the setup, monitoring, recording and reporting of trial results with appropriate partners
  • Work with technical service, operations teams,  to ensure accurate formulations, ingredient availability, process readiness and successful industrial execution
  • Support and lead scale-up activities in the factory by evaluating the impact of ingredients and process conditions on product quality and manufacturing performance
  • Organize and facilitate trial meetings and follow-up discussions to ensure actions, decisions and timelines are effectively managed
  • Support small to medium innovation projects by coordinating plant activities and providing technical execution support
  • Coordinate required sampling of raw materials and finished products to support projects and customer requests
  • Support customer visits and plant tours when technical expertise is required
  • Act as a liaison between R&D and operations to ensure successful production and commercialization readiness
  • Approximately 10% travel is required to support manufacturing trials, customer visits, training activities, and collaboration with regional R&D teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in food Science, Food Technology, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience in product development, process development, manufacturing support, industrial trials, or scale-up activities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing and plant environment
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Ability to work on-site in Deventer and build effective partnerships across functions
