This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products.
Job Purpose and Impact
Process Technician I position in the East Department is responsible for Running a chemical reactor, loading and unloading of railcars, bulk trucks, Totes and drums. Process Technician I will also be responsible for charging supersacks, bags, and other chemicals to the production processes. They will also be responsible for running lab testing, SAP transactions and performing Lock out activities. The plant consists of semi-automated batch reactors. Because of the potential exposure to chemicals, PPE issued for the position includes respirators, chemical resistant clothing, eye protection goggles, safety glasses, and chemical resistant boots. The plant is also set up with tanks and equipment outside, so this position will spend time in all different types of weather.

Compensation: $28 -$32 depending on experience

Key Accountabilities
- Operate mobile powered equipment (i.e. forklift, skid loader, sit down floor sweeper, front end loader).
- Learn operating procedures, receive input from peers and may provide feedback on clarity and effectiveness of guidance, including procedure documentation to pursue continuous improvement of facility operation.
- Use hand and power tools to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot basic machine issues, escalating broader machine issues.
- Monitor equipment and control panels, process samples, execute basic machine adjustments as needed and utilize computer systems to input and record data, following policies and procedures.
- Set up and operate control systems for a series of machines and equipment requiring limited, readily definable variables.
- Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
- Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility
- Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator
- Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
- Must be able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment
- Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
- High School diploma or Equivalent
- Basic use of a computer and typing skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, with an emphasis on Excel and Word
- Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
- Chemical operations experience, military service, or University Associate's Degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of inventory systems
- Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Prior experience in production-related work
- Experience operating forklifts and/or similar equipment
