This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Chemist, will conduct chemical analysis and experiments related to food safety and developing new knowledge, materials, processes and products with predefined instructions. In this role, you will make certain products meet or exceed customer requirements related to quality and food safety within multiple areas of the organization, including food safety, process management, data management, quality systems, analytics and instrumentation.
Key Accountabilities
- Cross functionally work with teams to build, maintain and improve an effective food safety, quality and regulatory culture.
- Collect, analyze and document test data to make sure products meet customer requirements, quality standards and expectations.
- Collaborate with other teams to interpret data and write reports based on test results.
- Conduct sample analysis from various sources to provide insights and information on different materials, products and ingredients to figure out whether current processes can be optimized to increase efficiency.
- Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of food safety industry practices and standards
- Scientific and mathematical knowledge
- One or more year of work experience in a research field
Position Information

The expected salary for this position is $30/hr. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
