This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products. 

Job Purpose and Impact

The Research and Development Supervisor will provide general and technical contributions to the development of ingredients and actively lead the day to day operating activities of the team within a specific department. In this role, you will provide leadership to a team of diverse scientists and engineers to execute innovation goals and ensure technical excellence and partner with the global team lead to advise on the prioritization of a portfolio of projects and drive research and development decisions for process improvements and goals supporting business objectives. Key Accountabilities

•             Provide leadership to the Product Development team to execute innovation and improvement projects and capture opportunities in various areas of expertise

•             Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to move projects forward with agility. Partner with marketing to identify needs and translate these into new product development opportunities and solutions, from product inception through commercialization

•             Ensure alignment of strategic research plans and priorities across research R&D teams and businesses to create consistencies and efficiencies, aligning with a unified approach across the function.

•             Provide leadership to establish procedures and tools to manage projects and the intellectual assets.

•             Apply scientific knowledge to contribute to research programs in relevant area.

•             Serve as an operational and tactical enabler to develop processes and control mechanisms to ensure compliance with intellectual property laws, regulations and company policies.

•             Champion and coordinate Coordinate the team to search and implement scientific innovation growth initiatives across the organization through collaboration with businesses and external partners locally and globally to identify emerging trends and align research product development projects within the team to meet strategic objectives and potential opportunities.

•             Work globally with the R&D team and provide direction to the team. Create an environment of collaboration and fast execution

•             Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.

•             Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Food/Ingredient Engineering, food science or equivalent.
  • Relevant work experience with food research and development
  • Experience in the Food Industry
  • Research and development background
  • Supervisory experience
  • Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • knowledge of project management is desirable
  • Academic experience desirable
