Job Purpose and Impact

The Director, Application Development - Manufacturing Supply Chain Production Planning and Scheduling job leads the team responsible for maintaining, integrating and implementing software applications within the organization. This job manages and provides guidance on software application testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation and support to ensure smooth, stable and timely implementation of new software and updates to installed applications.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to multiple engineering teams within MANUFACTURING SUPPLY CHAIN (MSC) Production Planning & Scheduling by embedding modern software engineering practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines. 
  • Champion the adoption and continuous improvement of SDLC processes tailored to MANUFACTURING SUPPLY CHAIN (MSC)’s capability-aligned product portfolios, ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient application delivery. 
  • Support the transformation of MANUFACTURING SUPPLY CHAIN (MSC) Production Planning & Detailed Scheduling DT&D into a product-centric operating model by establishing clear end-to-end ownership frameworks for applications—from ideation through decommissioning. 
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Digital Leads and Capability Owners to co-develop technology roadmaps that reflect both regional business needs and global capability maturity. 
  • Ensure that application rationalization, portfolio governance, and investment planning are executed with transparency and aligned to strategic goals. 
  • APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT & DEPLOYMENT: Provides broad oversight for release management processes and the programming, configuration, testing and deployment of fixes or updates for application version releases.
  • USER COMMUNICATION & SUPPORT: Establishes an open channel of communication with users and provides broad oversight and guidance on application support requests and needs.
  • APPLICATION SUPPORT: Leads the team to conduct advanced and complex application support activities to deliver on business outcomes.

Key Accountabilities (continued)

  • STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT: Identifies and drives engagement with key internal and external partners, understanding their needs and maintaining effective communication to ensure project alignment and success.
  • INCIDENT & REQUEST MANAGEMENT: Develops broad reviews on incoming incident tickets and user requests to ensure prioritization in accordance with service level agreements.
  • VENDOR MANAGEMENT: Fosters positive relationships with software vendors and negotiates relevant contracts.
  • PERFORMANCE MONITORING: Tracks the performance of configured applications and makes adjustments to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • APPLICATION PROCESSES & PROCEDURES: Reviews and approves recommended improvements for moderate to advanced and highly complex application specific support processes and procedures.
  • TEAM MANAGEMENT: Manages team members to achieve the organization’s goals, by ensuring productivity, communicating performance expectations, creating goal alignment, giving and seeking feedback, providing coaching, measuring progress and holding people accountable, supporting employee development, recognizing achievement and lessons learned, and developing enabling conditions for talent to thrive in an inclusive team culture.

Qualifications

MINIMUM & TYPICAL YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum requirement of 6 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 10 years or more of relevant experience.
  • Broad knowledge of agile and product methodologies and frameworks.
  • Configuring or building applications in a product environment.

PREFERRED & TYPICAL YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE

  • The candidate should have experience completing multiple (at least three or more) full application lifecycle/deployments.
  • Strong functional expertise in the area of production planning and scheduling (and S&OE if also included). It is critical to being a good business partner to have a strong business capability foundation with proven experience.
  • Expereince with business partnering roles or as members or managers of supply chain planning teams / COEs.
  • Experience completing multiple (at least three or more) full application lifecycle/deployment.
