At Cargill, we care about your safety and want your job search experience to be a positive one. Unfortunately, there are scams out there where individuals pretend to be Cargill recruiters to try and collect personal information or request payment. Please know that Cargill will never ask you for money during the hiring process, and in most cases, we only accept applications through our official careers site, with the exception of some roles in our production plants. If something doesn't feel right or you have questions, don't hesitate to contact us. To learn more, visit our Notice on Fraudulent Job Offers.

Mayra is a Senior TA Consultant at Cargill, working closely with candidates and hiring teams across roles and regions. She supports candidates throughout the hiring journey, from first conversations to final decisions, helping ensure the experience is clear, respectful, and focused on what matters most.

In the questions below, Mayra shares what you can expect when applying to Cargill, along with a few tips to help you feel prepared and confident.

What does the interview process at Cargill look like?

Our process is designed to be structured while still leaving room for real conversations. In most cases, your journey starts by applying through our careers site. From there, our Talent Acquisition team reviews your experience and skills to understand your potential fit for the role. If there's a strong match, you'll connect with a recruiter for an initial conversation, followed by a series of interviews, typically two to three depending on the position. Once the interviews are complete, we bring together feedback and move toward a final decision and next steps. Throughout the process, we aim to keep things clear, transparent, and relevant so you understand what to expect at every stage.

How many interviews will I have?

For many roles, you can expect 2–3 interviews. The exact number may vary depending on the position, location, and hiring needs. Each conversation has a clear purpose - so you can have meaningful discussions without unnecessary repetition.

How should I prepare?

Preparation doesn't need to be complicated. The most helpful thing is to come ready to share your experiences and ask questions. We encourage candidates to review the job description and think about how their skills connect to the role, learn a little about Cargill's business and impact, and reflect on examples of how they've collaborated, solved problems, or learned from challenges. Our interviews often include behavioral or skills-based questions, which help us understand how you approach real situations.

Interviews can feel like a big step, so I always try to make the process as transparent and supportive as possible.

What are you looking for in candidates?

We look beyond job titles. We're interested in understanding the full picture of who you are, including your skills, experiences, potential, and the capabilities you can bring to the role. We also look at how you collaborate, approach challenges, and connect with our values. Every career journey is different, which is why we value curiosity, diverse experiences, and a willingness to keep learning and growing.

How long does the process take?

Timelines can vary depending on the role and location. Our goal is to keep things moving and communicate next steps clearly, so you’re never left guessing where you stand.

Will I receive updates or feedback?

We aim to communicate openly and respectfully throughout the process. Your recruiter will keep you informed about next steps and decisions. While detailed feedback may not always be possible, we strive to provide clarity at each stage.

What is the interview experience like at Cargill?

We design our interviews to be consistent, role-relevant, and human. While each interview is structured to ensure a fair and thoughtful evaluation, we also want it to feel like a genuine conversation. You'll have the opportunity to share your experiences, learn more about the role and team, and ask any questions that matter to you. Most importantly, we want you to feel comfortable being yourself and having an open, two-way discussion.

Do you use AI during the hiring process?

We may use technology, including AI-enabled tools, to help support parts of the recruiting process, but hiring decisions are made by people, not AI. At Cargill, resumes are reviewed by recruiters and hiring teams, and interviews are conducted by real people. Our focus is on understanding your skills, experiences, and potential through meaningful conversations and fair, role-relevant evaluation.

Consistent with Cargill's Responsible AI Principles, any use of AI is subject to appropriate human oversight and guided by our commitments to fairness, transparency, accountability, safety, and respect for privacy. We do not rely on AI to make employment decisions, and human review remains a critical part of our hiring process. As technology continues to evolve, we remain committed to using it responsibly while maintaining a human-centered hiring experience that treats all candidates with fairness and respect.
