High River Protein Processing Plant

The town of High River is located in southwestern Alberta, Canada, and has a population of 15,000 people. Cargill’s High River facility is a fully integrated beef processing facility, including slaughter, fabrication, rendering, and hide operations. The plant employs approximately 2,200 people and processes 4,700 head of cattle per day. Cargill is regulated by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and adheres to the highest standards of integrity, investment in food safety and quality, animal health and safety, corporate social responsibility, and employee safety. Cargill in High River has also been recognized as a pioneer in recruiting temporary foreign workers. Since 2007, the High River facility has worked closely with the Alberta Government to recruit over 1,000 foreign workers from both the Philippines and Mexico.
